Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at Spotify Camp Nou on 25 October 2026, with Kylian Mbappé scoring in the 41st and 87th minutes. Raphinha briefly brought Barcelona level, but Madrid’s late counterattack secured a major away win in the LaLiga title race.

The result ended Barcelona’s run of nine straight league wins to start the season. Barcelona remained top on 27 points, while Real Madrid moved to 24, three points behind their rivals and one behind Atlético Madrid.

  • The move that decided El Clásico
  • What the result means for LaLiga

How Madrid took the lead

Madrid’s first goal came from a quick move down the right before the ball was switched towards Marc Cucurella and Yan Diomandé. Diomandé drove towards the area and pulled a low cross back. Gerard Martín reached it first, but his attempted clearance struck Mbappé and deflected into the net.

The 41st-minute goal gave Madrid a 1-0 half-time lead. The visitors pressed aggressively when Barcelona tried to build from the back and looked to attack the space behind the home defence. Barcelona had opportunities of its own, but Lamine Yamal was unable to turn a promising first-half opening into an equaliser.

Raphinha brings Barcelona level

Barcelona improved after the break and drew level in the 61st minute. Lamine Yamal took a short corner to Pedri, who shaped to shoot before slipping a reverse pass into Raphinha’s path. The Brazilian finished low to make it 1-1 and bring the home crowd back into the match.

Barcelona threatened to go ahead as the second half progressed. Gerard Martín came close with a header, while Lamine Yamal created another opening. Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin made important saves to keep the score level as Barcelona put the visitors under sustained pressure.

The move that decided El Clásico

Madrid delivered the decisive goal in the 87th minute. Jude Bellingham used his skill to release Eduardo Camavinga, who combined with Arda Güler and continued his run into the penalty area. Camavinga then pulled the ball across goal for Mbappé, who finished from close range to complete his double.

The sequence showed the threat Madrid carried throughout the night: even while defending deep, the visitors could turn a regain into a rapid attack. Barcelona continued to push forward, but Madrid protected its lead through the closing minutes.

What the result means for LaLiga

The 2-1 win gives Madrid momentum and cuts the gap to Barcelona to three points after 10 rounds. Atlético Madrid sits between the rivals on 25 points, keeping the early title race tightly packed.

For Barcelona, the defeat interrupts an excellent league start but does not erase the points built up over the opening weeks. The response in the next fixtures will show whether the team can recover quickly. Madrid, meanwhile, will take confidence from a disciplined defensive spell and the quality of its decisive counterattack.
